BELLE VUE boss Mark Lemon says his side are in “terrific shape” ahead of the crunch clash with Sheffield.

The ATPI Aces return to action against their old rivals in the Bank Holiday Monday midday clash at the National Speedway Stadium.

It’s been an enforced three-week break from action in Manchester and Lemon is eager to get back for this blockbuster fixture.

He said: “We are back with a bang. Sheffield on a Bank Holiday Monday, it doesn’t get much bigger than that. It’s a really fascinating battle.

“Of course this is the one the fans love the most. There will be plenty of digs and that’s all part of it.

“They will still be hurting from the ATPI Aces winning the league for the 14th time and beating them on the way last season. That will fire them up.

“Their fans usually turn up in good voice on the second bend at the National Speedway Stadium. It will be a brilliant atmosphere.

“They have lost Tai (Woffinden). At Belle Vue we continue to wish him all the best in his recovery. He has shown remarkable courage and fight, which is fantastic.

“Sheffield have made changes to cover for him. They are a very good side with riders who can deliver on our track. It’s a real acid test for us.”

Belle Vue’s top two of Dan Bewley and Brady Kurtz showed great form to finish second and fourth in the opening Grand Prix in Landshut on Saturday night.

Lemon added: “Right now we are in terrific shape. Brady (Kurtz) is arguably the most in-form rider in the world right now.

“Jaimon (Lidsey) is capturing his 2023 form again and Dan (Bewley) does what Dan can do. Zach (Cook) and Norick (Blodorn) have been performing and going in the right direction plus our reserves Tate (Zischke) and Jake (Mulford) are showing great promise.

“I’m looking forward to getting the boys back together in Manchester for what should be a belter of a meeting with the Tigers.”
