BELLE VUE boss Mark Lemon says his side are in “good shape” ahead of facing Oxford.

The ATPI Aces take on the Spires in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership at the National Speedway Stadium on Monday at midday.

After a comfortable win at Oxford and then home to Leicester, Lemon is delighted with the progress his side is making.

He said: “There’s an awful lot of racing to be done yet. But after the win at Oxford, we are nicely placed in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership table.

“If we can keep improving and progressing, we’ll be in good shape as we head towards the play-offs.

“It’s already quite remarkable to think that Monday is our first Premiership R2 fixture, so effectively we are into the second half of the season here at the National Speedway Stadium.

“We still have one outstanding R1 meeting here against Birmingham, of course, which is next Thursday.

“It was a strong win when the Spires were here in mid-April. But that means nothing when they arrive here on Monday. “They have a very solid side. Once again, all their riders have had good meetings at the National Speedway Stadium.

“They seem to have recovered from a tricky start to the campaign and will want to find a spark to make a bid for the top four.”

ATPI Aces’ Rising Star Jake Mulford qualified for the SGP2 series with seven points at Glasgow on Saturday evening.

But Tate Zischke missed out after the meeting was rained-off after 12 races and the last qualifying place was decided by ballot.

Mulford said: “I’m over-the-moon. It’s the best result of my speedway career. I’m working hard to improve all the time so this means a lot to me.”
