“We are mindful of that. We haven’t had the best of luck with injuries leading up to play-offs, that’s for sure. When you are a manager, you don’t rest easy.
“The riders are busy, they get tired after a long season and they’ve got to perform at the pointy end. You are asking a lot of your riders.”
It’s certainly not a shoe-in for the Manchester side. Leicester are certainly capable of delivering over two legs. That’s been proven by successive Premiership KO Cup wins.
Another World Cup winner Ryan Douglas, perhaps Australia’s biggest hero in Warsaw, has shown he is a solid No.1.
Sheffield have almost confirmed their place in the top four and will take on Northampton on September 10 live on BSN, the meeting that could seal their spot.
Even with the loss of Jack Holder, the Tigers have been excellent with Josh Pickering as such a terrific talisman. Chris Holder is still a strong performer but emerging talents Leon Flint, Anders Rowe and Luke Killeen plus on-form Jye Etheridge make the South Yorkshire outfit a dangerous proposition.
East Anglian rivals Ipswich and King’s Lynn are still slugging it out for the final spot. Both have the ability to upset the odds if they make the top four.
