MACIEJ Janowski marks his return to British Speedway for the first time since 2015 with his debut appearance in Belle Vue’s Peter Craven Memorial on March 18.

The double Polish Champion sent shockwaves through the sport in the UK when he confirmed he had linked up with Oxford’s newly-created Premiership team, the Oxford Spires, for 2024.

It’s a move that he hopes will re-invigorate his form on the international stage after he finished an overall 14th in last year’s Speedway Grand Prix Series.

But he’s no stranger to silverware when it comes to global competition, with a grand total of eight GP wins under his belt since his debut in 2015, including the 2017 British Grand Prix in Cardiff.

And he has been a key element of Poland’s domination of world team events through the years, helping carry them to no less than four FIM Speedway World Cups.

Belle Vue CEO Mark Lemon said: “We’re very excited to have Magic joining us for our season opener. It’s another first for this meeting to have him as part of the line-up and is world class and well-respected competitor.

“Maciej’s will be wanting to put the past behind when on his last visit to Manchester as part of the Poland’s Speedway of Nations team in 2021, ended in tears when jubilant Team GB when went on to win the coveted World Team Championship prize.

"However, despite the outcome that day for Poland, he is entertainment personified and I can’t wait to see him roar around Manchester race track again.”
