BELLE Vue skipper Brady Kurtz is the official World Championship leader after finishing third at Lodz on Saturday.
Kurtz is level on 109 points with Bartosz Zmarzlik after the defending champion most unusually failed to reach the Final in Saturday’s Round 7.
The ATPI Aces No.1 now has the golden race jacket on the basis of countback, with one GP win and two second places this season whereas Zmarzlik has one win and no seconds – although should the scores be level after the final round in Torun, there would be a run-off for the title.
But Kurtz and Zmarzlik also have to be aware of the in-form Robert Lambert who won in Lodz to make it 56 points out of a possible 60 in the last three GPs, defeating Patryk Dydek, Kurtz and Michael Jepsen Jensen in the Final.
Lambert is now only eight points behind Kurtz and Zmarzlik in what has become a three-way fight for the World title with three rounds remaining, starting in Latvia next Saturday.
Kurtz said: “I’m not really too worried about having the gold jacket. I think the important thing is to stay consistent, keep making finals and keep getting the points.
“The important thing is having the golden race jacket after the final round in Torun.
“I am happy with a third. That’s more good points on the board and that has been the goal at every round. I obviously would have liked to win, but congrats to Rob. He has definitely deserved this.”
