BELLE Vue skipper Brady Kurtz remains firmly in World Championship contention after a third-place finish in Riga on Saturday.
Kurtz has dropped four points to defending champion Bartosz Zmarzlik, who won the Latvian GP, but with Robert Lambert second in the meeting it’s still a genuine three-way fight for the title.
Zmarzlik is on 129 points with Kurtz on 125 and Lambert has 119 as the series takes a break until the final two rounds at Vojens on September 12 and Torun on September 26.
Kurtz said: “It’s only one Final away from being back to exactly where we were before Saturday. I am not really too concerned about that. There are a lot of races to go, and a lot can happen between now and Torun.
“Racing in the LCQ (Last Chance Qualifier) is never ideal. I was just grateful to get through that and get into the Final. It wasn’t my best. I made a decent start off four and thought I might have had a chance. Gate one was just way too good, but congratulations to Bartek.”
Meanwhile Jason Doyle picked up 10 points after finishing third in his Last Chance Qualifier, and he is now 10th overall on 59 points, 13 adrift of seventh placed Leon Madsen.
