BELLE Vue have another opportunity to wrap up top spot in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership when they travel to Leicester on Monday (7.30pm).
But in order to make mathematically certain, the ATPI Aces have to crack the only other 100 per cent record in the league apart from than their own.
The Manchester men should be safe enough for the aggregate point after a massive 61-29 win in the reverse fixture, and that will take them into a position where only a totally unprecedented swing in race points could change the situation.
But if they avoid defeat in the East Midlands they can make absolutely certain, and whilst Leicester have won all eight home matches so far, Belle Vue will travel with plenty of confidence.
On their previous visit in July, the Aces roared into an early 12-point lead only to be reeled back in after Jason Doyle had crashed out of the meeting, and they were eventually beaten in a last-heat decider.
Since then, Leicester have secured their own play-off place but they have lost Kyle Howarth to retirement, and they will be using guests for the remainder of the season with Jordan Jenkins coming in on Monday.
The Aces, meanwhile, are at full strength with Doyle having slotted in perfectly earlier in the campaign when Dan Bewley was seriously injured in Denmark.
The Australian has been in double figures in each of his seven completed fixture, winning at least two races in all of them, and he’s now targeting a strong conclusion leading into the play-offs.
Doyle said: “I knew I had big boots to fill with Dan so I needed to do at least 12 points a meeting, and it’s been enjoyable.
“Everything is so professional at Belle Vue, you don’t have to worry about anything. Lemo (Mark Lemon) is a really good team manager and the boys in the team all get along.
“But there’s a long way to go still, we’ve got the play-offs to come and there are no easy teams in this league.”
