SECOND time is the charm for Belle Vue as the club prepares to re-stage its prestigious flagship event, the Peter Craven Memorial on Monday, April 3 at the National Speedway Stadium, 7:30pm.
Excitement is bubbling with a star-studded line-up of current and former world title contenders, as well as all six of the 2023 ATPI Aces, lock horns in this battle for individual glory.
World No. 5 Robert Lambert heads up the field alongside the reigning British Champion Dan Bewley, with Australian international Max Fricke and 2017 world champion Jason Doyle going for his fourth Peter Craven victory.
But Belle Vue CEO Mark Lemon has made the popular move to first bring in British Speedway stalwart Chris ‘Bomber’ Harris and Niels-Kristian Iversen as two top notch replacements.
And completing the refreshed field will be Leicester racer Justin Sedgmen, Panthers captain Hans Andersen and Edinburgh’s Kye Thompson.
Late-season sensation Robert Lambert, who helped elevate the ATPI Aces to Premiership Champions in 2022, has high hopes of adding his name to the Peter Craven Memorial Roll of Honour.
He said: “Belle Vue has always been one of my favourite tracks in the UK and I was really pleased to be able to help put the team in a good position, as I’ve said already.
“But it’s a new year now, and this is one of my first meetings back after a few Polish test matches, so we’ll just have to see how things go but hopefully I’ll pick up from where I left off.
“At the same time, it’s a meeting without pressure which means it’s a meeting to enjoy and it will be nice to be able to take in and appreciate the atmosphere in Manchester and at Belle Vue.
“It’s such a great event anyway but with the line-up they’ve put together it’s a really good way to test your performance early on in the season.”
Meeting tickets and race day hospitality for the 2023 Peter Craven Memorial on April 3 at 7:30pm are available to purchase online at bellevue-speedway.com.
And for fans who are unable to make it to the National Speedway Stadium, British Speedway Network will be streaming the meeting live from 7pm at watch.britishspeedway.co.uk.
