IT’S a Friday night bonanza at the National Speedway Stadium with two meetings for the price of one when Belle Vue host Edinburgh Academy in the National Development League.

Prior to the main meeting, the club once again welcomes the British Youth Championships to Manchester, with the 125cc and 250cc class kicking things off at 6:00pm.

Some of the country’s brightest and youngest talent will be on display as they target valuable championship points before the Cool Running colts take centre stage at 7:30pm.

Although Leicester have already been confirmed as the NDL Champions for this season, the remaining standings are yet to be determined, with Belle Vue still with two matches to race.

Both the Cool Running Colts and Edinburgh bring in guests at the NSS, with the home team without Sam Hagon (Championship duty) and both Chad Wirtzfeld and Luke Muff due to injury.

Team bosses have called on Joe Thompson to deputise for Hagon at No.1 and Jack Shimelt to stand in for Wirtzfeld at No.2, while R/R will be implemented for Muff at No.3.

Edinburgh meanwhile bring in Lee Harrison at No.7 to cover for the unavailable Kyran Lyden, and also operate RR at No.1 for Connor Coles, who is on Championship duty.

Team boss Steve Williams said: “It’s not ideal to be missing a few the boys, particularly Sam who is, ironically, riding for Poole at Edinburgh but we have to work with what we have.

“But I feel we will still be more than competitive. We’ve got Joe Thompson coming in to cover at No.1, we’ve got Freddy, we’ve got William, we’ve got Matt… all the boys are well up for this.

“The Academy have a strong middle order and we are definitely in for a challenging but exciting night and our priority is to make sure we pick up a good advantage ahead of our trip up there.”

The Cool Running Colts face their penultimate home match on August 30 against Edinburgh Academy at 7:30pm, with the action preceded by the British Youth Championship at 6pm.

Meeting tickets, race day programmes and south stand parking are now available to pre-book online at bellevue-speedway.com/events.
