IT’S been a while since they were in action, but the Belle Vue ‘Cool Running’ Colts resume their National League campaign on the road at Kent this Sunday, June 18 at 12pm.

The league table has undergone a bit of a shuffle recently with the Cool Running Colts sitting fourth in the standings, just 3 points outside of the top two.

Though yet to nab their first away win this season, the team have performed consistently on the road and each time getting closer and closer to their first victory.

At home, they have been a dominant force and remain undefeated at the National Speedway Stadium in their first three outings.

Kent, meanwhile, have work to do in their quest for the end-of-year play offs, currently sitting seventh of eight teams and with a mixed record of success at Iwade.

The Cool Running Colts will be without two of their regular seven for the meeting, with Freddy Hodder sitting his driving test and Paul Bowen unavailable due to a previous commitment.

The club will utilise rider replacement at No.2 for Hodder, with Sam Woods an unattached 3-point rider stepping in at No.6 for Bowen.

Team co-boss Steve Williams said: “Kent is not an easy place to go, not least because a 12pm start means a very early start for us travelling but also for us being without two of our usual seven.

“But in the past, we’ve enjoyed our racing at Iwade and it is one of the fixtures that, even early one, we feel we can come away with something.

“Our away fixtures so far have all resulted in us either winning the aggregate bonus point or setting ourselves up with a great chance of taking the aggregate point when we race at home.

“All we can ask of the lads is to do their best, which they always do without us having to ask them and hopefully they will come away with the points to reflect their efforts.”
