THERE’S no rest for the wicked as the Belle Vue ‘Cool Running’ Colts head north to Scotland for their final away test of their National Development League season against Edinburgh.
They make the long trip to Armadale buoyed by their impressive win over Sheffield just 24 hours before, and with a substantial aggregate lead after their 56-34 win in Manchester.
One change to the visitor’s line-up sees Jack Shimelt forced to sit out after crashing out of his last ride at Owlerton and feeling somewhat second-hand as a result of the impact.
It means unattached racer Billy Budd will have his first shot at NDL League action as he steps into the No.2 spot alongside returning No.1 Sam Hagon, who missed the trip to Sheffield.
Club boss Steve Williams said: “We’re delighted to have Sam Hagon back with us. It was frustrating to be without him at Sheffield but the circumstances were what they were.
“He did a great job in contributing to Leicester’s qualification into the Premiership Grand Final, and the rest of the boys rallied together to get a fab result at Owlerton.
“It certainly has boosted our confidence ahead of the Edinburgh match. We have a very strong aggregate lead but we want to take all three league points if we can.
“It’s just a shame Jack has had to pull out. It was a bit of an awkward crash and we wish him a speedy recovery, but thankfully it was more a superficial injury so he should be fine.
“If we can finish our last two matches strongly, we can finish the year joint second with Oxford md Edinburgh is a track we are quite fond of and I have faith the boys can deliver."
The Belle Vue ‘Cool Running’ Colts continue their travels on Friday, September 13 when they head north to Edinburgh for their final away fixture of 2024.
They then return to Manchester on October 11 for their last home appearance of the season against Sheffield/Scunthorpe at the National Speedway Stadium.
The Belle Vue 'ATPI' Aces meanwhile prepare for their Premiership Play Off semi-final against the senior Tigers on Monday, September 16. Meeting tickets, race day programmes and hospitality are now available to pre-book at bellevue-speedway.com/events.
South Stand Parking reservations are now fully booked. A limited number of pre-book spaces are available at St Peter’s School for those still looking to attend.
