AFTER opening their 2024 campaign on Good Friday, the Belle Vue ‘Cool Running’ Colts take to the track for only the second this year when they travel to Leicester on Sunday, May 12.

The two sides met at the National Speedway Stadium at Easter, when the Lion Cubs took a hard-fought 38-49 victory in Manchester.

But being a full strength and being as determined as ever, the Mancunian side is determined to set the record straight against their rivals as they pursue their first league points of the season.

Club boss Steve Williams said: “With fewer teams in the NDL this year we expect to wait longer than usual between meetings, but it feels longer than six weeks since we last rode.

“But for the majority of the boys, they’ve been keeping busy; Freddy and Sam have been kept occupied by their Championship commitments, so we won’t be going into this meeting cold.

“But it will be a challenge, there’s no doubt. Leicester was very strong in Manchester and made a point of capitalising on the fact that we were understrength that day.

“This time, though, we have a full contingent and are ready to show just what we can do and what we can bring to the National League this year.

“If we want to secure the aggregate point, we need to hit the ground running, but more than that we want to take every point available from this meeting and we believe the boys can do it.”

Belle Vue return home on Monday, May 13 when we welcome the newly created Oxford Spires for our first encounter at the National Speedway Stadium, tapes up 7:30pm.

Meeting tickets, race day programmes and south stand parking are now available to pre-book, along with race day hospitality, at bellevue-speedway.com.
