THE thrilling conclusion to Belle Vue’s exciting clash with the Oxford Spires takes them to Sandy Lane on Thursday, May 23 where three league points are on the line.
When the two sides met at the National Speedway Stadium 10 days ago, the ATPI Aces triumphed 51-39 and take a 12-point aggregate lead into this crucial clash.
And with two other ROWE Motor Oil Premiership meetings going on elsewhere around the country, movement in the league table is guaranteed.
Following their win over King’s Lynn on Monday, the ATPI Aces leapfrogged Ipswich to go top of the standings and they are keen to maintain their excellent run of form.
Oxford, meanwhile, are sitting jointly on 9 points with Sheffield and Leicester, who lock horns at Owlerton Stadium on Thursday night also.
It has been 17 years since a Belle Vue team has visited the Sandy Lane circuit and excitement is building amongst the riders and management for their visit.
World No.7 Dan Bewley said: “This will be the first time a lot of the boys have been to Oxford and, to be honest, we’re quite excited for this meeting.
“I’ve seen footage of the racing there and I think it will suit us, and with the form we’re in right now we’re feeling pretty good about our chances.
“Our away form has been improving with each match but we need to be firing on all cylinders from the first race because Oxford are more than capable of winning at home.
“We know the job we have to do. We’ve worked hard to get to the top of the Premiership and we fully intend on staying there for as long as possible.”
The Belle Vue ‘ATPI’ Aces head out on the road to Oxford this Thursday, May 23 for the exciting conclusion to their clash with the Oxford Spires; tapes up at 7:30pm.
They are back at home on Monday, May 27 for another Bank Holiday bash against the reigning Premiership champions Sheffield, tapes up at 12pm.
