ANOTHER stunning display from the Belle Vue ‘Cool Running’ Colts saw them take their second National League victory in as many days, triumphing 35-53 over Edinburgh Academy.
It was a challenging night as the boys waited first for Sheffield/Scunthorpe to take on the Academy boys before taking centre stage at around 8:30 after watching the home team take the win.
But the Cool Running Colts quickly took control of the meeting and established a strong advantage over the Academy boys that, ultimately, they found difficult to respond to.
William Cairns continued to shine in his Belle Vue colours, topping the scores with 16+1 while returning No.1 Sam Hagon announced his comeback with 11 and Freddy Hodder added 10+3
Two emphatic wins on the road in just 48 hours has put the Cool Running Colts in an advantageous position to finish their 2024 campaign in second place.
They need only win their home match against Sheffield/Scunthorpe by 8 points to seal the deal, something which team boss Steve Williams believes is well within their capabilities.
He said: “It was another great performance from the lads on the road at Edinburgh and we couldn’t be prouder of all the boys. They all rode superbly.
“Over two days, we’ve taken all the points on offer at Sheffield and now Armadale and we couldn’t ask for more than that. It was a pleasure to be a part of these two huge successes.
“Sometimes when you come to places like Edinburgh, where some of the lads have ridden and some haven’t, it’s one thing to pass on information but another to put it into practice.
“But the way our lads got stuck in, kept their heads down and pretty much dominated from start to finish is a performance we couldn’t be prouder of.
“Our thanks to Billy Budd for stepping in for Jack. Hopefully he is on the mend but we are very grateful to Billy for stepping in and putting in such a great effort.”
