BELLE Vue have sent out a very strong statement to their top flight rivals after clinching their third consecutive away win at Leicester on Thursday night [April 20].

The ATPI Aces go top of the Premiership table after a closely contested meeting at the Pidcock Motorcycles Arena, with confidence riding high within the team.

In a story almost identical to those of Foxhall and Alwalton, the reigning Premiership Champions began their night on a very high note to put the pressure on the Watling JCB Lions from the start.

And though the home team managed to recover the deficit and take the lead by the half way stage, there was no denying the ATPI Aces’ thirst for further success on the road.

It all came down to a last-heat decider, with the Lions in front and the ATPI Aces lagging by two points but by no means jaded as they pulled the result back to level ground.

So fierce was the battle that the evening ended in a 45-45 draw and the Premiership’s first Super Heat of the season, with the big guns on both sides taking to the track in an all-or-nothing battle.

In the end, it was club No.1 Dan Bewley and our guest Ryan Douglas who flexed their muscled and brought the win home for the ATPI Aces, their third consecutive victory on the road in eight days.

Guest rider Ryan Douglas, standing in for Brady Kurtz – top scored for Belle Vue with 11+1 with Dan Bewley contributing 11 and Charles Wright adding 8+2.

Bewley said: “This last week has been a brilliant comeback for the team and to be honest I thought the job tonight was finished a lot earlier than it ended up being.

“I saw Charles [Wright] at the pit gate and I thought they were going to give me the ‘bumps’ but as it turned out it was because we had to face the Super Heat.

“It’s the first time I’ve ever done one and this was a fantastic result for us, and I also want to add how great the track was. I really enjoyed riding it and they’ve done a very good job with the remodel.

“It took us a little longer to find our feet early doors and a few of the boys had some issues but we’re cooking on gas now and we’re really looking forward to our next home meeting at Belle Vue.”

The ATPI Aces resume their title defence at the National Speedway Stadium on Monday, April 24 with the reciprocating fixture against the Peterborough Panthers.

Meeting tickets, race day hospitality and south stand parking are now available to pre-book at bellevue-speedway.com.
