JAMES Pearson will make his highly anticipated National League debut with Belle Vue after being named the final rider in their Cool Running Colts septet.

The Sydney-born racer arrived on the UK scene in 2022 with Championship side Birmingham and will double up with the Brummies this season.

A protégé of the legendary Leigh Adams, 17-year-old Pearson last year committed his British future to Belle Vue Speedway.

And as a Belle Vue asset, the club was keen to bring him to the National Speedway Stadium and a lot of hard work and perseverance has gone into making that happen.

Pearson said: “I’m really excited to be joining up with Belle Vue this year. I’ve ridden the track a couple of times on the experience days but I’m really keen to actually race it.

“The team that Belle Vue have put together looks pretty solid. There’s some good lads in the side and I’m sure we’ll all get on really well.

“I think this season will be a little easier for me. It was a lot to take in last year and I found it pretty tough those first few meetings for Birmingham.

“But as time went on, my confidence was up and I was getting used to the different tracks and I have a better idea of what to expect this year.

“I just can’t wait to get out there. It’s time on the bike and want to be riding as much as possible.

Belle Vue CEO Mark Lemon said: “A lot of time and effort has gone into bringing James to Belle Vue.

“It’s a big plus when opportunities open for the inclusion of Commonwealth riders to be able to participate in the National League and we’re delighted to finally welcome him to Manchester.

“He’s a very exciting prospect and has already proved himself a capable rider, but I think this season will be another significant steppingstone in  development for rider and club.

“I’m confident that supporters will be as happy with our Belle Vue Colts team as we are, and we are very much looking forward to seeing them in action.”

Belle Vue commence their National League campaign at home in Manchester on Good Friday, April 7 against Berwick. Tickets are available to book online at bellevue-speedway.com.
