BELLE VUE racer Peter Kildemand has announced he will retire from the sport at the end of the season.
The Danish star, who turns 37 next week, ended an eight-year absence from UK speedway when he returned last season with Oxford and Berwick, before joining the ATPI Aces last winter.
He’s proved to be a solid member of the Belle Vue middle order despite suffering some niggling injuries during the year, and he has produced several trademark blasts from the back around the National Speedway Stadium.
Kildemand, who won two GPs during his time at the sport’s top table, was a league winner with Swindon back in 2012 and he has the opportunity to repeat the feat with the Aces before he calls it a day.
He said: “It is a decision I have thought about a lot. Speedway has been a huge part of my life for 33 years and the sport has given me far more than I ever dared to dream.
“Therefore, it feels right to stop now, while I can make the decision and say goodbye on my own terms.
“I am incredibly proud of what I have achieved and I would like to say a huge thank you to all of you fans who have followed me through thick and thin. Your support has meant more than you will ever know.”
