BELLE VUE boss Mark Lemon believes the confidence is growing in his side after a huge win over Birmingham.

The ATPI Aces crushed the Brummies 60-30 on Monday night at the National Speedway Stadium.

Jaimon Lidsey (15), Dan Bewley (12) and Brady Kurtz (10+2) were all unbeaten by an opponent in the Manchester mauling.

But Lemon is delighted with the progress from his side. He said: “These boys obviously had an assignment and they achieved that quite well.

“The impressive thing tonight was the effective way they worked as a team.

“At the bottom end Jake (Mulford) and Tate (Zischke) were chipping in with their points. It was great to see Tate win heat 1 which wouldn’t have happened a few weeks ago.

“The confidence is growing in the team as a whole. Great to see Jaimon (Lidsey) pick up a maximum. I’m really impressed with the group.

“Confidence is important in sport and especially speedway. These guys are growing in stature.

“We go to Ipswich on Thursday which is a tough place to go. We go to win the meeting and the bonus point is the minimum requirement.”

Kurtz is now unbeaten by an opponent in 19 races at the National Speedway Stadium, stretching back over four meetings. He was last beaten in heat 13 against Leicester on May 19.

He is fighting Bartosz Zmarzlik for the world title but he vows that his focus must remain with league racing.

He added: “One of my goals is just to remain focused and concentrate on doing my job in the leagues.

“It’s been going good so far. It was a great performance from the whole team.

“Obviously Birmingham are not the strongest opponents. But these are the important ones which you need to win and not slip-up which we almost did against King’s Lynn the other week.

“Our home form has almost been perfect but the away meetings can do with a bit of work.

“Hopefully at Ipswich on Thursday we can put in a good one. I would really like us to get some points from there.

“It’s good to have a break from the Grand Prix for three weeks. It feels like all I’ve been doing is racing in the GP every week.

“It definitely takes a lot out of you mentally and physically. They are long days with the qualifying.

“I’m looking forward to having a few weeks off and relax a little bit and focus on the league racing.”

Zach Cook also had another excellent night with paid 16 and he is also progressing rapidly for the ATPI Aces.

He added: “The bike felt good and the track was awesome. We spoke before heat 12 and I tried something different and it worked for my last two rides.

“In meetings when we are winning by so much it enables us to try things out and it’s been a good night for that.

“When it gets to the pointy end of the season, that’s good knowledge to have.

“The engine room is important in the team. If he can make great starts and I can tuck in behind him, that will work great for us and the team.”
