BELLE Vue made a strong impression at King’s Lynn’s Adrian Flux Arena on Thursday night, where they triumphed 42-48 over the home team to claim another two league points.
Both sides were on equal footing for much of the evening’s racing, with the ATPI Aces taking action in Heats 13 to 15 in order to seal the win.
It was King’s Lynn’s first time out at home in 2024 after several rain offs decimated their earlier commitments, giving the visitors something of a slight advantage.
But the PSH Environmental Stars proved to be tough opponents, countering the ATPI Aces’ every advantage with one of their own to maintain a deadlock all the way to the final few races.
A big 5-1 in Heats 13 and 14 gave Belle Vue the opportunity they needed to seal the deal on the night, and a Heat 15 exclusion for Stars racer Tobiasz Musielak sealed the deal to cap off an excellent night.
Captain Brady Kurtz once again led the way for the ATPI Aces, securing 14 points while World No.7 Dan Bewley added 11+1 and Ben Cook contributed 8+2.
Cook said: “It’s all well and good getting league points at home, but a place in the play offs could come down to our ability to take points on the road and tonight we’ve done that.
“We didn’t have things all our own way, for example Jaymo [Jaimon Lidsey] shedding a chain which resulted in King’s Lynn getting a 5-1. It was a very close night.
“This was their first home meeting, which potentially went in our favour because it meant things were pretty level, and it’s a track that most of our boys love to ride.
“This was, I think, my best result as a Belle Vue rider so far and I’m very pleased with how it went tonight, but especially for the team because we had a point to prove here.
“We started string and we finished strong, and we’ve set ourselves up nicely for the return leg at home where, hopefully, we can finish the job and get a few more points on the board.”
The ATPI Aces return home to the National Speedway Stadium on Monday, April 15 for the return leg against the Norfolk side, tapes up at 7:30pm.
Meeting tickets, race day programmes and south stand parking are now available to pre-book, along with race day hospitality, at bellevue-speedway.com.
