BELLE Vue Speedway have made a change to our declared National Development League 1-7 and have handed local lad Jack Shimelt his NDL debut with the Cool Running Colts.

The Oldham racer comes into the team in place of the outgoing Paul Bowen and will make his first appearance as a fully-fledged Belle Vue rider at home against Workington on August 25.

Shimelt has made a number of guest appearances for the club in the last couple of seasons and is a regular participant at our Experience days, held monthly at the National Speedway Stadium.

Club CEO Mark Lemon said: “We are sorry to see Paul go, but with the Play Offs fast approaching and his circumstances meaning he would miss some key fixtures we feel the change was necessary.

“We are very pleased to welcome Jack to Belle Vue for the remainder of the season. He a young and very enthusiastic lad who is always prepared to give his best whenever we call.

“He has shown he has the right attitude towards his racing and we are fully prepared to give him this opportunity, which we are confident he will grasp with both hands.”

The Cool Running Colts make their penultimate home appearance before the Play Offs this Friday, August 25 against the Workington Comets.

Meeting tickets, race day programmes and south stand parking are now available to pre-book online at bellevue-speedway.com/events.
