"STATEMENT WIN" FOR ACES

BELLE VUE boss Mark Lemon admitted it was a “statement win” over Ipswich.

The ATPI Aces produced a sensational performance to beat the Witches 52-38 at the National Speedway Stadium on Monday night.

Brady Kurtz delivered his third successive maximum and is now unbeaten by an opponent in three home meetings and 14 races. That included two spectacular passes against Emil Sayfutdinov.

Lemon said: “You could probably say it was our best performance of the season. It is a statement win.

“To beat Ipswich the way we did was convincing. We had a lot of firepower.

“The consistency of our team builds is important and you learn from successes.

“I think there’s so much talent in this group of riders. The top two are really blossoming and bringing the rest of the boys with them.

“It definitely wasn’t an easy win. It was a close meeting and we only pulled clear after heat 13.

“There were nine shared heats. It felt like we weren’t going to get this one over the line and it would go to the wire.

“But we got stronger and stronger which is credit to all the boys and also the reserves. Tate and Jake were really impressive. They are growing and developing.

“We are the youngest team in the Premiership and they are doing so well.

“Credit to the track staff as well because it was difficult to prepare during such hot weather. It was perfect.”

Kurtz was sublime once again. He hunted down Sayfutdinov in heat 11 to produce a stunning pass to get the NSS fans on their feet.

He added: “It was a tough one. Ipswich are such a good team, they are strong absolutely top to bottom. They’ve got no weak spots.

“We definitely needed a big win tonight to really show what we are made of.

“I grew up watching Emil, he was and still is, one of my favourite riders. I can remember him giving it to me a few times around here!

“It’s definitely nice to pass him. You don’t often get to do that. I just enjoy racing here. It’s nice when the bikes are working well and I’ve got that speed to go where I want. A really good night all round.”

Norick Blodorn missed the clash with an injured knee. But Jaimon Lidsey, Zach Cook, Tate Zischke and Jake Mulford all stepped up with impressive performances.

Lidsey said: “I spoke to Mark on the phone earlier in the day and he said if you, Dan and Brady score maximums we’ll be okay!

“I enjoy coming here every week. I don’t think you can doubt us at home.

“We all enjoy racing here and it’s halfway through the season and we all know what works.

“To have rider replacement is always tough. We’ve done half the job now and we just need to go to Ipswich and do another job.”
