BELLE Vue manager Mark Lemon is backing his young reserves to maintain their progress as preparations ramp up for the 2026 league campaign.
The ATPI Aces host defending ROWE Motor Oil Premiership champions Ipswich in their next fixture on Monday April 20, and will be keen to open up with a victory.
Australian racer Tate Zischke (pictured) has been one of the big positives of the two home matches in the KO Cup with scores of 10+2 against Sheffield and 6+2 against Leicester.
Rising Star Will Cairns, meanwhile, bounced back from a tough debut with mechanical trouble to score 3+2 on Monday lunchtime, including sharing in a Heat 4 5-1 over Lions skipper Sam Masters.
Both riders have found points harder to come by away from home so far, although they did collect a 3-3 in Heat 2 at Sheffield, and Lemon has stressed it’s work in progress for two big talents for the future.
Lemon said: “The improvement we’ve seen from Tate from last year to now has been significant, and the sport is tough.
“These are professional athletes trying to do a very brave job out there, and it’s not easy. They are putting the hard yards in and it’s dangerous too.
“Considering where Tate has come from, I think everyone is quite pleased. We love a trier, and it’s good to see him back amongst it.
“Young William is going to come on. He scored paid-five at home to Leicester, and I thought he rode incredibly well, and we forget he’s 16.”
The countdown is on to the clash with Ipswich, who have made several changes to their title-winning team but still boast a solid septet.
Zischke and Cairns will certainly face strong opposition as Swedish racer Philip Hellstrom-Bangs, who has been spectacular on his visits to the NSS in international events, is one of the incoming riders for the Suffolk side.
