IT’S the biggest test of the season so far for the Belle Vue ‘Cool Running’ Colts when the 2021 NDL champions Mildenhall journey to the National Speedway Stadium on Friday, May 26.

And with temperatures soaring as the UK basks in gorgeous weather, the club is urging fans to turn out in force and support the Belle Vue young guns on home shale.

The Cool Running Colts battled hard earlier this week when they visited Oxford on Wednesday night, falling just short of victory and leaving Sandy Lane 49-40 worse off.

But, thanks to their brilliant display in Manchester the previous week, they still grabbed the bonus aggregate league point to maintain their strong position in the league table.

After four meetings, they currently sit third in the league, just 1 point behind the Fen Tigers and only 2 adrift of leaders Workington, and a win on Friday could push them onto level points with the Comets.

Belle Vue will track a full-strength team for this battle while Mildenhall have called on ex-Colt Sam McGurk to guest in place of Lee Complin, who is on Championship duty with Glasgow.

Colts co-boss Graham Goodwin said: “This is going to be an excellent meeting. The weather’s looking amazing and it’s one we have definitely been looking forward to as have all of the boys.

“The Fen Tigers arrive in Manchester unbeaten, having won their three league meetings so far as well as knocking Kent out of the Knockout Cup with home and away victories over the Royals.

“We would love to be the first team to defeat Mildenhall in 2023. It will be a challenge but Friday’s target will be similar to our previous two home matches.

“We want to secure our third home win and build a big enough advantage to put us in an equally strong position for the aggregate point when we travel to West Row.”

The next action in Manchester sees the Cool Running Colts take on the Mildenhall Fen Tigers on Friday, May 26 at 7:30pm in National Development League action.

The ATPI Aces again find themselves up against the Wolverhampton Wolves, this time in Premiership competition on bank holiday Monday, March 29 at 12:00pm.

Meeting tickets, race day programmes, south stand parking and hospitality are now available to pre-book online at bellevue-speedway.com.
